Defending champion Francesca Schiavone continued her effort at the tournament, having rallied from 1-6, 1-4 down to beat 14th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. The veteran Italian fought back to seal the quarterfinal, 1-6, 7-5, 7-5.
