Semifinal lineup complete in Tokyo
Top seed Caroline Wozniacki continued her smooth progress at the Toray Pan Pacific Open on Thursday. The Dane earned safe passage into the final four after opponent Agnieszka Radwanska retired with a left foot injury. Wozniacki built a 5-0 lead before Radwanska called it a day.
By virtue of her quarterfinal-round success, Wozniacki is guaranteed a spot at the season-ending WTA Championships in Doha.
“I’m really happy to be playing in Doha. It was a goal for me going into the year to be in the top eight. I’m really happy that I’m the first one to qualify,” said the 20-year-old.
Rounding out the semifinal are: No. 5 Francesca Schiavone, No. 7 Elena Dementieva, who ousted second-seeded compatriot Vera Zvonareva and No. 8 Victoria Azarenka.
